Maggie's Dream... accomplished!
As you all know from previous postings both on Facebook and on this blog since March last year, I have been following the dream which Maggie Grout initiated about 7 years ago.
Maggie's dream to provide low cost education infrastructure to people in third world countries burdened with non-existent budgets, very poor natural resources or facilites led her to establish the "Thinking Huts" project. In the time which has passed since 15 year old Maggie set up her NGO (?) she has gathered together a very competent team of supporters and now they have completed Stage 1... this is a proptotype building in Madagascar, a "printed" concrete building!
Yesterday I received this brief email from Maggie after the opening of her dream building in Madagascar.
I will be forever grateful for our dedicated and selfless volunteers, our architects Defining Humanity and local construction team.
This is a journey formed by the incredible people, serendipitous paths crossed, that came together to unconditionally support and believe in not just me but a vision much greater to profoundly impact the world — in the pursuit of bridging the gap between poverty and opportunity through education.
Now let’s raise the funds to continue
Amazing! We need something like this to help solve the housing crisis in Australia. But - ooops - I forgot, there is no housing crisis, only already-wealthy people getting wealthier.
