The End of Humanity!

Well, I hope I will never have to be admitted to a hospital with facilities devastated like this.

In fact I have a great aversion to hospitals even when they are relatively clean and well run as I have found here in Australia. Even at my worst moment in 2015 at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, I was never confronted with a ward such as we see in the image above.

The procedure I was in hospital for required an operation in the middle of the night, in a theatre which was "under construction"... it was being "renovated" while still being used for serious operations! I was aghast at the situation but had I had no choice, it was an emergency and I was happy to be looked after by people who cared about my wellbeing and did their best under the circumstances.

The news we endure every day and night shows us that we are a most privileged society... it's far from perfect here, but you would not swap it for Gaza or Ukraine, would you?

How do people in Gaza or Ukraine survive the conditions which have overtaken their cities, their towns? Their country?

I think this is the end of humanity.

We have arrived at a point in the history of our species where nightmarish conditions have become the norm. The daily litany of horror, whether it be in war zones, or on the streets of cities like Melbourne. Sydney and other Australian cities, fire bombings of shops and macheting of innocent shoppers in shopping malls. Etc!

Ordinary everyday crimes and huge crimes against humanity have become "normalised"!

How is it possible that the people of Ukraine have to carry the burden for the whole of Europe?
Sure, the Europeans are trying to be helpful, and so they should. But they have been very slow to come to the party and Ukraine has done all the heavy lifting.

It now seems that Ukraine can hurt Russia in many ways that the Russians were not expecting.

But in Gaza, there is nothing the people of Gaza can do to stop the murders of their civilians, or the doctors, nurses and journalists who have been killed by the IDF in the Israeli pursuit of vengeance against Hamas.

By the way, I do not support Hamas, I was horrified by their crimes on October 7,  2023.

But in the current situation Hamas are just a rabble who cannot hurt Israel, they have no weapons such as the Ukrainians have, and the citizens of Gaza are paying a huge price for the evil of Hamas, giving the Israeli government an ongoing "pretext" for all the ills they are heaping upon ordinary Gazans, the old, the young, men and women, children.

So where is the humanity of the Israeli's? Where is the humanity of the Russians?

What has happened to humanity in this world?

There are some incredibly brave people who work in "war zones" or "theatres of war" such as Ukraine and Gaza... all those medicos and journos, how brave they are!

They are truly human!

They are the last line of humanity facing the evil of armed forces whose only business is destruction and murder.

ps.,

From the Guardian today:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jun/11/israeli-government-orders-must-not-be-obeyed-idf-intelligence-officers

Speaking to the Guardian, one of the intelligence officers who signed the letter said: “The hope is that as many people as possible will challenge the legitimacy of this operation and of this government.”

They added: “All the death is unnecessary. The hostages suffer and die. Soldiers are sent for nothing. And all the killing in Gaza, everything is completely unnecessary.”

  1. Let's keep celebrating these heroes and true humans, who are risking a lot trying to make a positive change and hang on to our humanity... I think every day is a challenge

  2. Perfectly correct Alix, just imagine what they have to endure each day! How do they cope?

  3. I don't support Hamas, either, Peter. But the death and destruction being visited upon Palestine by Israel is nothing short of genocide motivated by greed for more territory. The attack of October 7 is now just a pretext for ongoing atrocity. I don't believe Israel will stop until Palestine is totally obliterated (always their long game), so they have literally become for the Palestinians, what the Nazis were for them. Our sanctions on Israeii ministers don't go far enough, and for the Coalition to question the sanctions instead of support them is nothing short of reprehensible.

https://youtu.be/3tKPXY0icAU?si=oc4Dzj_VYC1TY0Go which I am watching now…it shows the Israeli army calling Gazan’s the Nazi’s! And in this doco that I watched earlier today on Al Jazeera news, OMG! I can’t believe the things I wills hopefully never have to live through. Here’s that link. https://youtu.be/Jgzli-g24TU?si=hN1rs6AUCahjobd4

Hoping for a nice warm and peaceful day to you all.
I agree Pete. Can it ever be more than “the end” to humanity than it is now? Sadly, I think so.

  4. Once again we are in complete agreement David. Thankfully the Coalition are now just a rump party, a rabble! They are busy consigning themselves to the dustbin of history. Labor are starting to lift their game. Yesterday Shoebridge (Greens) was very good on ABC's "Afternoon Briefing".

We must be optimistic... the Guardian says the great clown Trumpo and his mates are reviewing "AUKUS" as per "what's in the best interests of the USA".

HA HA, and we stupid fucking Aussies have already made a down payment of nearly 1 Billion.

  5. David, we are not the only stupid nation upon the face of the Earth! Take a good hard look at the USA? And here we are, still tied to their apron strings!

    1. That's what i meant, Peter. remaining tied to the apron strings of a country dumb enough to vote for someone like Trump. When do we get a political class with brains instead of pockets that want filling?

  6. Thanks Chris, you agree with all of us! And we all seem to be on the same page. Many friends have responded to me by email, more than are represented in this comment page.
