"Division 4" from Peter Leiss
Division 4 is a satirical photographic project of 44 images,
comprising four images creating a narrative illustrating the global
corporate culture we now live in by photographing the mundanity
& carelessness of suburban byways.
Division 4, primarily an excursion into form, colour & compositional foundations within a narrative, analysing the corporate culture we now live in, both the new product & its waste, now a paralysis throughout the world, however these images are centralized in the immediate area of my location that tries to speak of its collective global span.
The present stances are unreal, ignoring signs, igniting compliance with a miss understood, rehash of past ideological behaviours that history has witnessed.
Rather than maintaining this persona, the terrene can be observed directly to the cracks & dislodgements. Division 4, light as it is and satirical I admit, however the idea of comparison to the examination of large areas of the planet's population of all living matter threatened with life survival on a daily basis cannot be equalled, yet, points in that direction.
However this is not the aim, if anything it exercises composition no matter the lowest consequential nature of the subjects. The streets and byways can leave hard signs, metaphors even; it’s a play of the obvious that transpires into a four- image narrative that can be viewed left to right, right to left, diagonal or backwards conveying - Out of touch.
Ambiguity allows us to disregard, ‘Yes or No’ and visualise ‘Yes & No’. The humour is isolated yet evident, as all things need to be examined with lightness & clarity, one hopes.
