From Serge of Misantronics, new works...
I've had a great collaboration with Serge Timmers on my recent little film "From Kyneton With Love". Today he sent me these new releases:
The Birth of Paradise by Misantronics
Zamp Makely just released The Birth Of Paradise by Misantronics, check it out here.
and also
Artificial Emotions by Anunada
I first discovered Serge's music in those long lost days of Facebook before the lifetime ban. One work which drew me to his music was "Hearder" which was made in collaboration with a number of artists.
Misantronics is the solo project of Serge Timmers, a writer, reviewer, musician and game developer from Belgium.
from Serge:
The song with the flugelhorn is called "Hearder" and features Izzy Op de Beeck. The video was created during the Covid lockdowns as a tribute to artists, organisers and fans in the world of live music. It's a statement on the uniting power of music.
Since the harsh noise beginnings in 2009 Misantronics gradually evolved into ambient, cosmic music, dark jazz and electronic dance music.
Ultimately, the styles became so different that Timmers decided to split up into a few different projects, like Anunada and Mint Narcosis.
With "The Birth Of Paradise" Misantronics revisited the harsher sounds from the early days.
Zamp Makely is the name of my company. "Zamp" comes from the Dutch word "plezant" ("fun") as pronounced by sister in law when she was a little child.
The word "Zamp" is now still in use in that family and I love it. "Makely" comes from the Dutch word "Makelij" which means "fabrication". So in all "Zamp Makely" means "Fun Fabrication".
Thanks Serge,

Like it very much - Currently doing the artwork for a band (Residuos Mentales) for their new CD so I have listened to quite a bit of music in this style/genre
ReplyDeleteThanks Serge, and Peter.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the video... some deep reflections here. It's the first time I've seen it, though i see from the credits it was made early on in the pandemic but it did get me thinking about how many more stories and expressions there are still to emerge from this strange time in our collective psyche. Methinks it will keep for years to come.
Btw, loved the flugelhorn

Thanks Richard, and Alexandra. Yes, it's a great track with the flugelhorn, it caught my attention in those grim days. Thankfully it connected me with Serge and his music. Silver lining!
